- ➤ Iowa National Guard Major General Stephen Osborn revealed details about the Guardsman killed in Syria during a press conference on Saturday, Dec. 13 at the National Guard Headquarters in Johnston (updates will come as officials review the incident). The Des Moines Register
- ➤ Two Iowa National Guard soldiers were killed Saturday, Dec. 13, in Syria by a lone ISIS gunman while over 200 guardsmen serve in counterterrorism efforts, the governor's office said.
