ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Three Remsen St. Mary’s Girls Basketball players suffered major injuries in a Saturday bus crash when a Jeep hit the vehicle as it was turning north on Highway 75—one 16-year-old was flown to a Sioux Falls hospital while two others were taken first to Sioux City hospitals then transferred to Omaha, and investigators continue to look into the crash. - ➤ Babak Tafreshi— a National Geographic photographer and explorer— will present his slide show Earth After Dark at the Des Moines Civic Center today, showing images of stars, wildlife, and how bright lights affect nature. The presentation uses vivid photos to help locals see the natural world at night in a new light. Radio Iowa
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ More than three months after roughly 200 Ottumwa meatpacking workers were told their work visas were revoked, some moved away while others secured new immigration statuses to continue working at JBS USA—Ottumwa’s largest employer. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Kim Reynolds and ISU President Wendy Wintersteen attended a groundbreaking ceremony in Boone for BioMADE’s pilot biomanufacturing plant—part of a $40 million project funded by the Iowa Economic Development Authority, ISU, and BioMADE with support from the Department of Defense. The 15,000-square-foot facility, which will expand ISU’s fermentation and lab space for food-grade products, is set to open in 2027. Iowa Public Radio
