- ➤ Reggie's Sleepout returned for its 20th year at Drake Stadium—raising funds to help Iowa youth facing homelessness and highlighting the challenges they experience. The event featured food trucks, games, a DJ, and a talent show—money raised supports emergency shelter services. KCCI
- ➤ The Urbandale Food Pantry broke its record on Saturday morning as delays in EBT funds during the government shutdown drove 112 families to seek service in four hours—raising concerns for many local food programs. - ➤ Spectators Sports Bar & Grill in Altoona, which opened in 2016, will close on Nov. 26 as its workspace is set to become employee housing—there are no plans to reopen the restaurant. The closure follows the Adventureland Inn's shutdown in July when its space was converted for housing. KCCI
- ➤ Toys”R”Us held its grand opening at Jordan Creek Mall in West Des Moines Saturday, November 1 — hundreds of shoppers attended a ribbon-cutting and giveaway event featuring mascot Geoffrey the Giraffe. The Go! Retail Group said the new store will offer popular toys such as LEGO and Barbie — and include an arcade with claw and gashapon machines for the holiday season. WHO 13

- ➤ Iowa City Liberty beat Waukee 34-20 in a playoff opener as star quarterback Reece Rettig limped off with a leg injury in the second quarter but soon returned to lead the team to a strong early lead — his comeback helped maintain the offense. - ➤ In the Iowa high school football playoffs, Gazette-area teams won key games with scores such as Iowa City West 38 to 31 over Cedar Falls and Decorah 25 to 24 over Western Dubuque.
