- ➤ Drivers in Des Moines are urged to proceed cautiously on slippery roads from ongoing rain and to watch for a stalled DART bus blocking the eastbound shoulder on I-235 near E 15th Street—no crashes have been reported as of 7 a.m. KCCI

- ➤ The Greater Des Moines Committee is accepting nominations for the 2025 Iowa Business Hall of Fame until Friday, Nov. 21 at 4 p.m.—nominations from business leaders will help honor Iowans who have significantly boosted the state’s economic growth. - ➤ On Oct. 23, dancers from Benton Community, Center Point-Urbana, and Solon competed at the Iowa State Dance and Drill Team Association Class VI solo state-qualifying event at Newton High School—Solon performers Sydney Schmooke and Zoey Zoske finished in the top 10 and earned spots in December’s state finals. - ➤ DMARC CEO Kathy Underhill outlined ways for the public to support food pantries — including volunteer and donation opportunities — as Iowans prepare to lose SNAP benefits in November. The Des Moines Register
- ➤ Clive Police Department has set up a safe exchange zone in its parking lot at 8800 Hickman Road for secure child custody and e-commerce meetups — the area features constant surveillance and bright lighting to deter unsafe conditions. WHO 13
- ➤ A citizen complaint filed on October 17 led the Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Board to reprimand three Johnston school board candidates and the president of ACCO Unlimited for displaying campaign signs on corporate property. The candidates said they removed the signs promptly and explained that no rules were intentionally broken ahead of the election. WHO 13

- ➤ Construction on the 33-story building at 515 Walnut paused on Oct 27 due to a delayed loan needed to pay the contractor; the developer said financing should be finalized by month's end so work may resume soon.
