  • ➤ On Oct. 18, thousands gathered at the State Capitol in Des Moines for the No Kings protest—speakers rallied the crowd and participants displayed creative props to voice their concerns.  The Des Moines Register

  • ➤ Four candidates are running for two at-large seats on the Bondurant-Farrar school board in an election set for Nov. 4; incumbents Lenhart and Meyer face challengers Guthrie and Padgett as each stresses quality education and safe, supportive schools.  The Des Moines Register

SPORTS NEWS

  • ➤ The IMT Des Moines Marathon takes place today from 8 a.m. at 4th and Court Avenue — thousands of runners are expected as city roads in Des Moines and West Des Moines close from 6 a.m. until noon. Additional races include a half marathon, a 5K, a one-mile walk at 8:15 a.m., and a free kids run at noon — adding more health and wellness options for families.  WHO 13
