  • ➤ Ian Roberts, the Des Moines Public Schools superintendent, was arrested by ICE on Sept. 26 — Associate Superintendent Matt Smith is now serving as interim while the district has not confirmed any details.  The Des Moines Register

  • ➤ Apple picking season has begun at six orchards near Des Moines — Berry Patch Farm, Center Grove Orchard, Deal’s Orchard, Iowa Orchard, Wills Family Orchard and Wilson’s Orchard & Farm — where visitors can pick many apple varieties and enjoy extra farm activities after Labor Day.
