- ➤ The Beaverdale Fall Festival in Des Moines brought 40 years of tradition with an 18‐block main parade, a dog parade with fun themed costumes, and stages for music and dancing—adding extra upbeat activities to the family event. The festival is set to return next year on Sept. 18-19. WHO 13

- ➤ Today, visitors on the River Bend Historic Home Tour along Ninth Street near University Avenue can see two restored homes that show dramatic before and after improvements. One home, once a boarded up house valued at $7,700 in 2009, now features historic upgrades while another bought in July begins a renovation that will last five years to boost the neighborhood’s image — tickets are $20 at a booth on Seventh Street.
