- ➤ Des Moines police are investigating the homicide of Courtany Mundy-Gonzalez—shot at Ashworth Pool parking lot in June 2024—with nearly 30 search warrants served and over two dozen witnesses interviewed, but no arrests have been made. KCCI
- ➤ Linda Ross, a Des Moines retiree, recounted how her dispute with Crow Tow ended with her arrest—followed by her eviction from her low-income residence. The Des Moines Register
- ➤ Police arrested a teen Tuesday morning after he led a stolen-car chase that ended when he crashed into a utility pole in the Drake Neighborhood, causing a power outage for 1,400 people and prompting crews to close Forest Avenue until about 9 a.m. WHO 13
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Iowa DOT closed the northbound ramp from University Avenue and the off-ramp to U.S. Highway 6 today as part of work on the Hickman Road interchange—drivers must use detours until the ramp reopens on Sept. 15 or late December. More ramp closures will begin at 10 p.m. Sept. 4 with crews installing temporary barriers for safety. The Des Moines Register
- ➤ Today the Des Moines airport launched the E-Z pick-up program to ease terminal congestion by allowing drivers to wait free for up to two hours in a designated parking garage area—as construction reduced lanes. Airport officials said the measure restricts curbside pick-ups to active passengers with luggage—vehicles left unattended risk receiving citations. KCCI

- ➤ Walks to End Alzheimer’s will occur over the next several weeks in 19 Iowa cities, and the Des Moines event—drawing about 2,000 people at a Promise Garden ceremony—will begin at Principal Park on September 27th to raise $1.4 million for local support and research. The funds will help programs for caregivers, education, and research on the disease. Radio Iowa
