  • Des Moines police have arrested 24-year-old Gadoar Bijiek on charges of attempted murder, felon in possession of a firearm, and interference with a weapon—he is accused of intentionally shooting a man near 1225 Prospect Road at around 7 p.m.—and the victim was taken to the hospital.  WHO 13

ECONOMY NEWS

  • After being shut down in 2024 to control bird flu, the Iowa State Fair Dairy Barn milk parlor reopened on Aug. 7, letting producers milk around 200 cows until 2 a.m. before restarting at 5 a.m. each day (expected to yield nearly 240,000 pounds or about 28,000 gallons of milk during the fair).  The Des Moines Register
