- ➤ At 9:15 a.m. Sunday, a two-car crash outside Mitchellville left one car flipped and submerged in water and injured five people—one adult was airlifted while two adults and two children received treatment—as emergency services from Mitchellville, Altoona and Pleasant Hill responded while the Iowa State Patrol opened an investigation. - ➤ Des Moines police charged 45-year-old Shontay Salenciaga after he fled officers, rammed a police car, and crashed his vehicle into the Embassy Suites hotel — he now faces charges for assault while displaying a dangerous weapon and felony eluding while being treated for a leg injury.
