  • The Adel Family Aquatic Center hosted its annual Cardboard Boat Regatta on July 18, where children and families built and raced cardboard boats and many boats sank during the contest (including one piloted by Brogan, 8).  The Des Moines Register

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A house fire in Grimes occurred on Saturday just after 1:30 p.m. on the 1200 block of NE 21st Street—fire crews quickly controlled the blaze after rescuing a dog while no injuries were reported.  WHO 13
  • Just after 11 p.m. on Friday, a Kia traveling south on DMC Highway 99 near Burlington lost control, struck a culvert, and rolled several times—resulting in the driver's death and injuring a passenger who was taken to the hospital.  WHO 13
