- ➤ Des Moines Police said a man is in critical condition after he was shot just before 5 a.m. on the south side at an apartment complex on E. Philip Street, and first responders treated him before transporting him to UnityPoint — Methodist Medical Center—detectives are gathering evidence with no arrests made. WHO 13
- ➤ Polk County Sheriff’s Office and detectives began investigating the death of a 3-year-old boy found unresponsive Saturday on the 3400 block of Hawthorn Drive Southwest — initial efforts to revive him were unsuccessful and authorities say there is no ongoing threat to the community. WHO 13

- ➤ The boardwalk at Greenwood Park near the Des Moines Art Center was removed due to concerns over its structural integrity and public safety— the artist sued last spring to stop its removal and settled the lawsuit in January. KCCI
