- ➤ A Des Moines family seeks closure after 34-year-old Courtany Mundy-Gonzalez was fatally shot at Ashworth Park on June 2 as an argument in a large crowd turned violent—police continue to work on the case with no arrests and urge anyone with information to come forward. KCCI
- ➤ The Cedar County Sheriff's Office removed 32 neglected dogs from two properties near Clarence on Friday from an unlicensed breeder after the owners surrendered them and an Animal Rescue League emergency overflow facility was used to care for dogs needing treatment. The Gazette

- ➤ The U.S.D.A. report showed that 92% of Iowa corn and 88% of soybeans emerged while only 3% of soybeans remained to be planted. - ➤ Des Moines City Council voted on June 9 to change the city's fireworks rules so residents may set off consumer fireworks on private property with the owner’s consent, aligning with a new Iowa law signed by Gov. Reynolds.
