The city of Ankeny in the Des Moines metro area was ranked 18th nationwide among 250 cities for best places to live by U.S. News and World Report, based on strong jobs, quality of life, and value.

It was also named the best place to live in Iowa and the 11th best small city, with safe neighborhoods, excellent schools, and over 100 miles of trails.

More than 35,000 people watched 50 unique soapbox carts race at the Iowa State Capitol Complex—Rolling Fish Heads from Hillard, Ohio took first place with a finish under 26 seconds at over 17 miles per hour—teams were judged on speed, creativity, and showmanship while the next race will be held on June 14th in Salt Lake City.
