- ➤ CelebrAsian festival returned to Western Gateway Park in downtown Des Moines this weekend, offering vendors, music, food and a Takraw tournament on the library lawn featuring the local team, which spectators said drew attention as the traditional sport gains recognition. KCCI
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On May 23, 81 students from Virtual Campus of Des Moines Public Schools graduated in person at Central Campus auditorium, joined by family + friends celebrating their achievement. The Des Moines Register
- ➤ Caleb DeVan, a Southview student who won Iowa’s state spelling bee in March by spelling 'cajolery', left with his family on Sunday for Washington, D.C. to prepare for the Scripps National Spelling Bee, which begins Tuesday as he studies 2,000 words (including their definitions and origins).
