Night Owl Books in Humboldt has already drawn locals with board game nights, while Nos Books and Now Now Bookshop in Des Moines expand choices for readers—bringing fresh community spaces across the state. - ➤ Des Moines Performing Arts has launched a free summer series starting with an interactive art installation called Optik at Cowles Commons; the 20 six-foot-tall gyroscopes make music and reflect light when spun. - ➤ Perry's Olivia Christensen and Woodward-Granger's Alexis Bogardus were recognized at the Governor's Scholar Recognition Ceremony on April 27 at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, where Gov. Kim Reynolds and Lt. Gov. Chris Cournoyer honored 424 Iowa seniors for outstanding academic achievement plus each school selected its top student from the first seven semesters. The statewide program, sponsored by the Iowa Governor’s Office, the Iowa High School Athletic Association and the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, celebrated these students as future leaders. - ➤ Pharmacists rallied at the State House on Monday as lawmakers debated the PBM reform bill—aimed at ensuring pharmacies are reimbursed for the true cost of drugs and giving patients more choice.
