- ➤ Des Moines' Downtown Farmers' Market opened Saturday along Court Avenue for its 51st season, drawing thousands to enjoy fresh produce, handmade crafts and hot breakfast items. - ➤ A fire at Spock's Sanctuary on Milton Avenue late Friday forced firefighters to cut holes in the roof to fight flames, and the Iowa Animal Rescue League (ARL) rescued 146 reptiles, including snakes and tortoises, bringing them to its main location for cleaning and treatment. KCCI
