- ➤ Captain Brad Sherwood of Cedar Falls Fire Rescue, who died from a heart attack after a 24 hour shift in February, will be honored at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend plus remembrance events in Emmitsburg, Maryland from May 3rd to May 4th. The Des Moines Register

- ➤ The body of a kayaker who went missing Friday on the Iowa River near Iowa Falls was recovered by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office after a 911 call at 11:48 a.m.—the body was found just before 10:53 p.m.—and an investigation is underway. WHO 13

- ➤ The Des Moines Police are asking for help to find Malik, an 11-year-old boy last seen just after 4 p.m. near the 400 block of Olinda Avenue in Indianola Hills—he is 4’11 tall, weighs about 95 pounds, wears a blue hooded sweatshirt and blue shorts, and is thought to be in crisis so call 911 if you see him. - ➤ The National Weather Service warned that severe thunderstorms with large hail, damaging winds, and potential tornadoes will hit Iowa on Monday, April 28, with central and northeastern areas including Des Moines at highest risk.
