- ➤ A Facebook post on April 5 wrongly said that Caitlin Clark was buying Salisbury House and Gardens to make it a shelter for homeless youth, but the museum said this is not true. The post got over 21,000 likes (and more than 2,000 shares) before the museum quickly corrected the rumor. The Des Moines Register
- ➤ Central Iowa families have many Easter events planned from today through April 20, including a Glowtastic Egg Hunt at Des Moines Children's Museum from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for $4 for ages 10 and up plus other egg hunts and holiday activities set at local venues in Des Moines, West Des Moines and nearby areas. - ➤ Police arrested a suspect in connection with a break-in at Perry trading card shop where an estimated $25,000 to $40,000 in cards was stolen on Sunday, after employees at Jay's CD & Hobby held the suspect until police arrived. KCCI
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Iowa cultural groups are stepping in today after the National Endowment for the Humanities canceled over $4 million in grants for local programs. Humanities Iowa and partner groups sent a letter to Sens. Chuck Grassley, Joni Ernst, and Iowa's four congressional representatives—warning that funding cuts may force them to cut grants, programs and staff as early as April 30. Iowa Public Radio

- ➤ Gov. Reynolds’ disaster aid bill was approved by the Senate Ways and Means Committee Thursday and is set for full debate in the Senate and House. The bill allocates $13.6 million from the Iowa Economic Emergency Fund + $2 million from the Nuisance Property and Abandoned Building Fund for home repairs and demolitions and it introduces a loan program to help communities prepare for future disasters.
