- ➤ A Des Moines CNA was booked in Polk County Jail on Wednesday on charges of stealing narcotics and falsifying records at two rehab centers — she allegedly took 57 doses of Oxycodone at Pine Acres Rehabilitation from December 2021 to April 2023 and multiple doses of Hydrocodone at the Rehabilitation Center of Des Moines from March to December 2023. - ➤ Mr. Monopoly visited Des Moines on Wednesday to scout landmarks like the Iowa State Capitol and East Village for a new Monopoly game that will be released later this year — the game is asking locals to email their suggestions. The Des Moines Register
- ➤ Perry High School is presenting 'The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee' at the Perry Performing Arts Center from today to April 6 with shows at 7 p.m. on today and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday (tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students) and directors say the production features bright colors, fun songs, and audience participation (each night will offer a unique performance). - ➤ The West Des Moines school district named Shane Christensen as Valley High School's new principal and he will start on July 1 pending school board approval on April 14. He led Indian Hills Junior High for 19 years and worked in the district for 24 years while current principal David Maxwell will move to a new role as director of strategic outreach. - ➤ Granny Basketball took over Indianola High School on Saturday when women over 50 played three games to support local charities. The event spans 10 states — even Canada — and coach Linda Alloway said the tournament helped the grannies stay active while raising donations for KIA Koda and Helping Hands. KDSM 17
- ➤ ADM track won its early co-ed meet with the boys scoring 204 points and the girls 217 points, with strong field events boosting the team. Both the girls and boys soccer teams lost 3-0 on Monday and will try to improve in upcoming games against Marshalltown and North Polk. The Des Moines Register
- ➤ From March 25-April 1, Perry’s boys soccer team earned a 3-0 win over ADM with goals by Jacobo Cerna-Gomez, Jonatan Banuelos and Jose Ortega and will face Des Moines North Saturday + a title game rematch with Des Moines Hoover before hosting Winterset on April 15. The girls track team finished fifth at Bondurant-Farrar with Cate Erickson’s improved 400-meter time while the boys track team will open their season on April 8 at Gilbert in a co-ed meet.
