- ➤ A Socata TBM 700 plane left Des Moines International Airport and crashed into a home in Brooklyn Park on Saturday at 12:22 p.m.—killing its only pilot and prompting the NTSB to check weather, pilot experience, and aircraft upkeep as one resident escaped unharmed. The Des Moines Register

- ➤ Des Moines police reported that a man was killed in a hit-and-run just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday on the 1100 block of East Ninth Street in the Capitol Park neighborhood and that they are now searching for the vehicle and driver. KCCI

- ➤ Preschoolers from Primrose Schools in Ankeny, Urbandale and West Des Moines have gathered 1,386 books for donation to five local groups—like a library, hospital and community center—marking 556 more books than last year's drive. The Des Moines Register
