- ➤ A bus carrying Iowa Lakes Community College's baseball team crashed Wednesday morning near Twin Lakes— en route to a series in Arkansas— killing one person and injuring over 30 as students held a vigil to mourn the loss. KCCI

- ➤ Prairie Meadows’ new leadership plans to boost horse racing investments + attract new investors as the casino looks to stay competitive with its peers. The strategy is expected to support long-term growth and business innovation. The Des Moines Register
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ John Deere is recalling 245 laid-off workers in Iowa to return to work this month and next at facilities including one in Waterloo. One hundred fifty of the recalled workers will resume their roles in drive-train, tractor, and engine operations. Iowa Starting Line

- ➤ The Iowa National Guard held a homecoming ceremony on Feb. 11 for soldiers returning from deployments in Iraq and Syria at Des Moines International Airport. The Des Moines Register
- ➤ The Iowa Lottery announced that Lucky for Life will end with a final drawing on Saturday, Feb. 21 — tickets already bought can be redeemed for up to 180 days, with the move coming after declining sales since the game started in 2016. The Des Moines Register

- ➤ Iowa lawmakers are considering two bills that would remove treatment time limits in subacute mental health care; the House measure advanced on Tuesday and the Senate proposal passed its committee earlier.
