  • Crews from Des Moines-based MidAmerican Energy helped restore power today in Hornbeck — 2 hrs south of Shreveport — after a winter storm left many Louisiana customers without electricity; the 36-person team was redeployed from Oklahoma when severe weather predictions changed.  Radio Iowa

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Des Moines Children's Museum invites the public to tour its new West Des Moines location (1200 12th St.) today from 4 to 6 p.m. before construction begins; the nonprofit plans to open the museum in the spring.  KCCI

  • The Iowa Board of Medicine warned Dr. Michael J. Page after five malpractice claims and a 10-year inquiry, noting he is no longer practicing and his license will be monitored if he returns.  The Des Moines Register

  • The Iowa women's basketball team plays at USC today (8 p.m. CT) at the Galen Center in Los Angeles. Addie Deal debuts as a starter in place of injured Taylor McCabe while the Hawkeyes hold a 5-1 series lead and enjoy an eight-game win streak.  The Gazette
